The Trumpeter

Plot Details
On a cold afternoon in Ireland, two strangers in suits walk into the close-knit Catholic town trying to "share a message," but are repeatedly rejected. They are the Mormons and the old Trumpeter (John Lawlor) mistakenly answers the door and can't say no to Elder Brown's (Michael McGroarty) request for he and his companion Elder Salley (Michael Bierman) to sit inside from the cold. Only wishing to play his music in peace, the Trumpeter gets infuriated as Brown tries to talk about God and shouts at the Mormons to get out of his home, blaming God for the death of his wife as he throws them out. Unexpectedly, it is the quiet Elder Salley who leaves Brown's side and barges into the Trumpeter's house again. only this time he shares no words, only music. What unfolds is a heart warming journey into the mind of the Trumpeter as he relives a time of happiness while playing music with the woman he loved and it is his memory of her and her song that will prove to keep that love alive. Based upon a true story, The Trumpeter examines the basic human need all of us have to be loved and exhibits how if we look past the walls of false assumptions and ill impressions we can find greater happiness and real belonging. The Trumpeter shows us that it truly is never to late too fall in love again.
